Paul Sein Twa

Saw Paul Sein Twa is the executive director and co‐founder of the Karen Environmental and Social Action Network (KESAN), a community‐based grassroots organization working alongside Indigenous Karen communities in Burma. Since KESAN’s founding in 2001, he has built it into a widely‐respected organization collaborating closely with local communities to deliver practical, substantive and empowering community development solutions to large numbers of people in remote areas affected by one of the world’s longest‐running conflicts. As the leading spokesperson for KESAN and several networks of border‐based organizations including Karen Rivers Watch (KRW), Burma Environmental Working Group (BEWG) and Karen Peace Support Network (KPSN),

Paul advocates for sustainable socioeconomic development solutions. Under Paul’s direction, KESAN has become an effective force working to improve governance of Burma’s lands, waters, forests, and natural resources, while promoting community‐determined development in the context of ethnic peoples’ vision of durable peace and genuine well‐being.

Thomas Aquino Rapak

Wissem Heni

Prior to joining Natural Resource Governance Institute, Wissem Heni worked in a number of relevant departments within the Tunisian government, namely the ministry of interior and the prime ministry office. Most notably, he was part of the Hydrocarbon and the Mining Advisory Commissions, which provide consultation and technical advice to the Ministry of Industry prior to signing licenses with international oil companies. As deputy director of Legal Assistance Services within the prime ministry office focused on extractives, he put to use his extensive knowledge of the sector to monitor the legality of hydrocarbon and mining permits and licenses. Besides having built strong relations with key actors in the hydrocarbon sector, he   worked closely with the Ministry of Industry on the interpretation of Article 13 of the constitution. Wissem holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from Tunis and a Masters in Administration. He also received trainings on sustainable development, anti-corruption, and bilateral investment treaties. At NRGI, he is supporting the implementation of NRGI’s engagement in Tunisia by providing capacity development, technical assistance and project management support to the program sector. He is focusing mainly on official stakeholders (government and parliament).

Ye Thein Oo

Zaw Than Htaik
