Leila is NRGI’s Capacity Development Officer, whose responsibilities include managing NRGI’s flagship global courses, including the Executive Course on Oil, Gas and Mining Governance, in partnership with Blavatnik School of Government in Oxford.  Leila also works with NRGI’s global regional knowledge hubs.

Leila is a development practitioner who has been working in the international aid and development sector for a decade.  Prior to joining NRGI, she worked on both humanitarian response and disaster preparedness programmes in Asia and the Caribbean and on development programmes across a global portfolio, partnering with locally-based NGOs and CSOs to work on, variously, gender, HIV/AIDs, land rights, livelihoods, governance, extractives and conflict transformation. She has also worked in the elections sector, spent some time based in Asia, Moscow, and Romania and worked on educational programmes with refugee groups in the UK. Leila read English literature, linguistics, Russian and development studies at universities in London. 

Sidra Khalid

Sidra Khalid is a Program Assistant in the Capacity Development team at Natural Resource Governance. Her role is to provide effective programmatic and administrative support to the Capacity Development team. She support NRGI’s courses and fellowships. Her duties include participant selection, producing course communications materials, developing an alumni engagement strategy, providing financial management support, and engaging in rigorous monitoring and evaluation to improve courses. Sidra previously worked at ISEAL where she managed external communications including webinars, newsletters, social media and blog articles. Sidra holds an MSc in Anthropology of Development from Durham University and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from Lahore University of Management Sciences in Pakistan.
