The upcoming training on "Improving The Governance of Extractive Industries" in Yogyakarta, Indonesia  from 9 to 21 January 2017 will introduce the new tool for various actions to improve a country's resource governance. The tool has been published by Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) through five years of testing in more than 15 country projects.

The tool, namely The Natural Resource Charter Benchmarking Framework, provides 170 questions and guidance that can be use by governments and civil society to benchmark a country's governance of oil, gas, and minerals against global best practices. This framework is openly licensed that will address a range of issues, including the foundations of good governance, resource discovery and the decision to extract, getting a good deal, revenue management and investing for development.
